The 2013–14 Norfolk Admirals season is the franchise's 25th season in the American Hockey League, which began on October 5, 2013.
==Off season==
Jarrod Skalde became the Norfolk Admirals assistant coach in July, having previously been head coach of the ECHL's Cincinnati Cyclones, was hired as Norfolk assistant coach in July. Sudarshan Maharaj became the new goaltender coach, and associate coach Mike Haviland, a past Norfolk head coach, departed from the Admirals to become Hershey Bears head coach.
Most of Norfolk's roster was new to the team, with several making their American Hockey League debuts. New additions included forwards Rickard Rakell, Brad Staubitz,〔 Joseph Cramarossa, Stefan Noesen, Antoine Laganiere, Maxime Sauvé and Zack Stortini; and defensemen Andrew O'Brien, Stefan Warg, Norm Ezekiel, Mike Little, Brett Skinner, Garnet Exelby and Nolan Yonkman;〔 and goaltender John Gibson.〔 The Admirals re-signed Mat Clark, and defenseman Kevin Gagne and forwards Max Friberg, Steven Whitney and Charles Sarault rejoined the team after having played less than a dozen games with the team the prior season. Harry Zolnierczyk was traded to the Pittsburgh Penguins organization for defenseman Alex Grant, and Admirals forward John Mitchell was traded to the Hershey Bears for center Mathieu Perreault. Norfolk also saw several departures during the off-season, including forwards Luca Caputi, Pierre-Luc Létourneau-Leblond, and Rod Pelly. Patrick Maroon, a winger who scored 36 goals for Norfolk last year, will join the Anaheim Ducks this season.
After a training camp that began on September 24 at Norfolk Scope,〔 the Admirals held a pair of preseason games against the Charlotte Checkers on September 27 and 28. Norfolk lost the first game 4–2 despite Grant scoring two goals, but won the second game 4–3, in spite of giving Charlotte seven power play opportunities.
